Teahouse of Spirits

This is probably the worst work as a band from any Jane's Addiction member. Out of a crappy album, a terrific song is born!!!
I love this tune, and the vocals by Isaacs is simply breathtaking. The crappy group is The Panic Channel and the song is Teahouse of Spirits

For more details on how to play it, including riffs and solo, check the link below at Ultimate Guitar (Correction: When I submitted the tab at UG, they did not process it correctly. The actual chords for the solo part are: D - E - B - E - Bb - E - B - E - D - Db - B - A - Bb

Evil Blues

This song's name is a real mistery. Evil III. Outro (sold my soul for rock'n'roll). perhaps??? Anyway, I've called it Evil Blues all these years. You can find it in Satanic Surfers' 1999 album 'Going Nowhere Fast'. It's supposed to be a hidden track at the end of the recording.
I love when a band thinks, swims and creates out of their comfort zone.
Punk Rockers playing some refreshing, 21st Century Blues? Can't get any better than that. Please enjoy!

'Why would I care' piece of information: The first song I ever played in a band was SS's Armless Skater, LOL, had a great time messing around with that one.

San Valentontin

Song for JLP

Ever heard of 'The Gun Club'? I hadn't till recently. His singer, writer and front-man has been an inspiration for many musicians, who some way or another have gotten in touch with the melancholic moods of the early 80's. His coarse vocals and irreverent lyrics motivated another Musical Genius into writing a master piece. I chose to tab the latter's work instead.

Now, my interpretation of the tribute song for JLP by Noir Desir as recorded in their 1996 album 666.667 Club:

Where did you go, son of a been
Why follow on this like a river's stream
You're beating in the heat of hell

What's Alternative Anyways???

Ever wonder about the term Alternative Rock Music?

I've noticed that recently the term has spread so much and it's used in so many areas of Music that it's pretty much lost its meaning

Q/ Alternative to what?
A/ Alternative to anything.

Even though it may have started to describe non-mainstream bands within the rock genre, it later evolved to be used in almost any music sub-genre there is

Alternative Rock Music is Alternative to Hardcore Rock, Alternative to Rock Punk, Alternative to Pop Rock, Alternative to Classic Rock, Alternative to Reggish Rock, Alternative to Alternative...

Alternative Rock Music is Alternative within itself.
Radiohead Alternative? Sure. Incubus Alternative? Why not... Megadeath Alternative? Off course, Paul Oakenfold Alternative? No doubt about it, Tricky Alternative? Indeed. They're Alternative and between them all

The word says it all. It's a different view, an unconventional option, a possibility. Depending on how you look at it, it applies to anything

I've always been opposed to labeling Music Genres. Every day a new gender arises and people want to distinguish it from the rest. I feel that such distinction may drive music's focus towards unnecessary discussions. Consequently, every new labeling is gonna mean nothing at the end.

After writing the word Alternative 21 times (did you notice?), it gets kinda tiring... Well, that's exactly the same feeling I get whenever I hear the term on radio stations or read it in Music reviews... It's just blah-blah-blah

By the way, the term Indie is going exactly the same path. What do you think?

Songs from the Heart

Never would have Ronnie and Gary imagined that one hour of chitchat and stories about women in their life would create an almighty rock classic.
What makes a song blow your mind away? I ponder...

Hardly ever I've encountered myself with a tune that's mind-grasping, heartbreaking, yet masterfully written and emotionally endearing. Emotionally endearing. That's the point I'm trying to make with this entry.

It's not the complex structure. It's not the never-ending music academy pompous solos. It's not even the rhythmic, danceable connection with our bodies.

For me a good song [ depending on the mood off course :o) ] is the one written with your own blood and suffering, telling your story in so little words. It's the song that speaks to you and connects with the emotional stage your going through in your life. Plus, an outraging performance also helps!

Have you ever cringed at the sound of a tune?
You probably have... But how long does the sensation last?

I've found myself disliking songs that I used to worship. Let's call it Radiohead's Creep, Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World, or Ugly Kid Joe's Cats in the Craddle.

The trick here is this: **If you find that one song, don't play it too often, otherwise it will lose the magic** I know it's hard, but it's a way to do it

For me, these are (my seasonal) songs from the heart:
1. Two-headed Boy (Neutral Milk Hotel)
2. Simple Man (Shinedown. Sorry Lynyrd)
3. Songs for JPL (Noir Desir)
4. Hate Me (Blue October)
5. The Wolf (Miniature Tigers)

Just listen to the sensibility impregnated in the songs above and give me your list. After all, it's a very personal point of view.

INTRO: Eb

VERSE: Eb - D - A (2x)
All the stars may shine bright,
All the clouds may be white,
But when you smile,
Oh how I feel so good,
That I can hardly wait

PRE-CHORUS: B - C# - D - C# - B - C# - D
To hold you,
Enfold you,
Never enough,
Render your heart to me.

CHORUS: Eb - D (2x)
All mine,
You have to be

VERSE:
From that cloud, number nine,
Danger starts the sharp incline,
And such sad regrets,
Oh as those starry skies,
As they swiftly fall.

PRE-CHORUS:
Make no mistake,
You shan't escape,
Tethered and tied,
There's nowhere to hide from me.

CHORUS:
All mine,
You have to be

PRE-CHORUS:
So don't resist,
We shall exist
Until the day,
Until the day, I die.

CHORUS:
All mine,
You have to be
